Law firm argues to CAS Eto’o no loger eligible to lead FECAFOOT

Morgan Sports Law firm in a letter dated June 21st has stated that Samuel Eto’o Fils is no longer eligible to head the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT.

This follows a 22 months sentence given to Eto’o by a Spanish court for tax fraud last June 20th 2022. Article 36 of FECAFOOT status clearly states that anyone sentenced to more than 3 months in jail cannot be FECAFOOT president and given Eto’o’s 22 months sentencing, he is largely above the stated period.

Article 47 further stipulates that the presidency of the federation will be considered vacant of a president, in the course of his mandate is found guilty of breaking the rule of Article 36 earlier mentioned.

The sports law firm in its letter to the Court of Arbitration for Sports therefore requests in its concluding paragraphs that Samuel Eto’o Fils no longer be considered as president of the Cameroon Football Federation. Team Eto’o Fils are yet to make any public declarations with regards to the matter.
