Kylian Mbappe says move from PSG to Real “great relief”
France forward, Kylian Mbappe, has said he feels relieved after joining Real Madrid on Monday.
The world champion reacted during the pre-match press conference for the international friendly against Luxembourg on Wednesday, pointing out that he faced intimidation while at PSG.
He spent six years at Paris after joining on loan from Monaco in 2017. A year towards the end of his contract with the club, he had a fallout with the officials who obliged him to renew the deal which he did not agree. He was benched for a while after the disagreement, before being reintegrated in the team.
“They told me straight, without any third party, straight to my face. It was very clear. I was spoken to so violently that I was convinced that I wasn’t going to play” Mbappe said. He disclosed that the coach Luis Enrique is one of the people that saved him “That’s the truth. Without them, I’d never have put a foot on the pitch”.
He considers the move to Real “a dream come true”.
“It’s very exciting. I am very happy, liberated, relieved and extremely proud. This is the club I’ve always dreamed of being at, so I want to thank them.”
Mbappe will be at Real Madrid for the next five seasons. In the meantime, he is focused on the French national team that is preparing for the European championship.
