Kupe Muanenguba Division: Cultural association angry over abandoned hospital project, petitions SDO
The people of Nkack grouped under the Nkack Cultural and Development Meeting, NKACUDEM, have urged the Senior administrator of the division, Ekema William, to investigate the reasons for the abandonment of the project to construct a Health Center in the village. Aside from the prolonged project, yet to see the light of day, the people feel that the Nkack Integrated Health Center is ripe and deserved to be transformed into a full-fledged hospital, reports Olive Ejang, the Divisional Delegate for Kupe Muanenguba, in the South West region.
This call was made by the president-general of Nkack Cultural and Development Meeting, NKACUDEM, Ekinesone Joseph Ngolle. The Association chose the venue of the Nninong Festival of Arts, Crafts and Culture, NDIEH, to table their complaints on November 19, 2022.
Ekinesone Joseph Ngolle questioned why contractors could not finish the hospital project despite the fact that the Public Investment Budget, PIB, has allocated that contract twice. Without giving much detail, he said there were ‘unholy and repeated happenings’ during the term of office of Ekuh Simon, the former Mayor of Bangem Council, who was the project owner and supervisory authority of the project.
“We seize this opportunity to plead with you, the Senior Divisional Officer for Kupe Muanenguba, to probe into the matter and render justice and equity to the people of Nkack, and Nninong as a whole.”
Ekinesone Joseph Ngoll, November 2022
Ekinesone equally drew the SDO’s attention alongside that of the Ministry of Public Health to the fact that the health center and the huge population it is serving, deserve the services of a resident doctor and a laboratory technician.
