Kumbo teeming with life in spite of insecurity

By Hans Ngala

If one lives out of the North West Region of Cameroon, it is easy to assume that life has come to a standstill there and that the place has been completely deserted.

However, pictures taken by our source on the ground there indicate that life is very much near-normal there when separatist fighters are not locked in deadly gun battles with the military.

Kumbo locals watching a football encounter

Our source in Kumbo sent us photos that showed a football competition taking place at Presbyterian School (PS), Kumbo on Sunday afternoon. The photos showed hundreds of youth at PS Kumbo with dozens of motorbikes at the PS school field.

This is an indication that even though other Anglophone cities such as Bamenda and Buea have seen an influx of people from more remote places, a good number of people have still stayed behind in the hotter zones such as Ndu, Kumbo, Nkambe, and Mbiame in the Northwest.

It should be noted that the number of military officials being killed by separatist fighters in Kumbo has been on the rise with the brigade commander for the town having been killed just about a fortnight ago.
