Kadji Football Academy cries foul, says “they pushed us to forfeit”
In response to Kadji Sports Academy’s relegation to the sub-divisional league for failure to play their scheduled games in the Litoral Regional League, President Gilbert Kadji held a press conference to address the situation.
During the conference, Mr. Kadji stated, “We were never informed of our relegation, and only found out through social media, the same as everyone else.”
He shared that the academy had applied for 54 licenses five months prior to the start of the season but only received 11 licenses, including three licenses for goalkeepers.
Mr. Kadji expressed his dismay, stating, “In other countries, federations don’t treat academies which contribute a lot to the development of football this way. They pushed us to forfeit”.
Further demonstrating the academy’s difficulties with licensing, Mr. Kadji revealed that the team has faced similar issues for over 2 years now, quoting a player the team transferred to Marseille for over a year who is still waiting for the federation to give him a license.
The academy contacted the secretary general of the national Fecafoot bureau via a letter and later through Whatsapp, but received no response, then the team requested that their games shouldn’t be scheduled due to their inability to obtain licenses, yet still received no response from the federation.
It is not just Kadji Sports Academy that has struggled with licensing problems; many teams across Cameroon, including those in the Southwest and Northwest regions, have also faced forfeiture due to license-related issues.
