Journalists, bloggers undertake fact-checking training in Bamenda
By Hans Ngala
A group of journalists and bloggers have completed a three-day training under the theme “How to Fact-check in Times of Crisis and Sensitive Areas.”
The training which took place in Bamenda brought together journalists, bloggers, online content creators and civil society members from the two English-speaking regions of the country.
This is the seventh cohort of the Africa Fact-checking Fellowship (AFF Cameroon) funded by DefyHatenow with the technical support of ADISI-CAMEROUN, an NGO that strengthens civil society organizations.
The fact-checking program which began this month, will end next November with participants taking over the techniques of verification of information and online mentoring sessions.
This training is vital in Cameroon and especially in the embattled Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon and will help journalists and bloggers to make sure that their content is based on facts and not on misleading information.
