Joseph Antoine Bell to manage 6-month-old national sports facilities and equipment board
Former indomptable lion Joseph Antoine Bell has been appointed Chairperson of the Steering Committee of the National Sports Facilities and Equipment Board.
The 68 year old was appointed in a series of presidential decrees signed on February 6 2023 in which he also appointed Ewane François Félix and Ekombe née Wanki Pascaline Mahgin as Administrator and Deputy Administrator of the National Sports Facilities and Equipment Board respectively.
The National Sports Facility and Equipments board (ONIES) was created on August 17 2022 by the Paul Biya.
The Board has as mission to use its expertise to ensure the upkeep, repair, operation, safety, development and sustainability of sports facilities and equipment, as well as specific related facilities built or developed by the state.
It is also responsible for preparing an integrated management plan for sports facilities and equipment and their annexes; preparing and implementing a strategy and management or operating mechanisms to control the costs inherent in the upkeep and maintenance of the sports facilities and equipment under its responsibility.
The board placed under the supervisory authority of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, comes to resolve maintenance problems in sports infrastructures which is very visible in Cameroon.
