Joel Embiid obtains French nationality

Cameroonian born international basketball star Joel embiid has obtained a French nationality. According to several news sources in France including RMC sports and L’Equipe, an official communique was made this July 13th confirming that the Philadelphia 76ers is now a French citizen.

The 28 – year-old inititated this procedure several months ago and it is now officially approved. embiid has never habored the Cameroon colors in an official FIBA competition.

During the 2021-22 NBA regular season, Embiid averaged a league-leading 30.6 points and 11.4 boards for his team. He became 1st center since Shaquille O’Neal to win NBA scoring champion honors.
