Jean Michel Nintcheu says National Assembly violated constitution in election of speakers

The ousted SDF member of parliament, Honorable Jean Michel Nintcheu is standing up against the functioning of the National Assembly.

During the plenary session for the election of the President and members of the office of the National Assembly which took place last March 27th, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril was reappointed for the 31st time as President as well as all the members of the office of the lower house.

What bothers MP Nintcheu is the non-compliance with the texts of the National Assembly to elect one of the four speakers of the chamber from the PCRN, a party led by Cabral Libbii as a second political force at the National Assembly.

“The CPDM and one of its agents (referring to his former party comrade, Joshua Osih, who retains his position as quaestor) of the National Assembly decided unsurprisingly to come together to violate this regulatory provision,” Nitcheu stated.

He added that the National Assembly went against its constitution which provides in Article 17.7 that “the election of the members of the bureau must reflect the political configuration of the National Assembly unless some political parties refuse to participate in the bureau”.

He also noted that the fact that they systematically refused to apply their own rules of procedure and pointed out that this is not only a denial of parliamentarism but above all, clear proof that “most members of parliament are unworthy of representing the sovereign people.”
