Jakiri: Gendarmes confiscate more than 60 ID cards after Amba provocation
Jakiri -Gendarmes vent their anger at population after Separatist Fighters’ “provocation”.
On Saturday July 16, 2022, Ambazonia Separatist fighters came to the central town in Jakiri beside the lone petrol station. They fired sporadic gunshots in the air before leaving.
Civilians took to their heels while others found refuge in shops, bars and homes along the Abakwa Street.
Barely 30 minutes after the combatants had left and civilians were returning to their activities, Gendarmes from the Jakiri Brigade came and allegedly harassed some civilians.
“They collected more that 60 ID cards and asked the victims to come collect them from the Brigade. At the moment I am filing this report this Sunday morning, civilians are paying 10,000Frs each to collect their cards.” CNA Bui correspondent said.
Bui division in the North West region has remained one of the strongholds of the Ambazonia fighters.
