International Golf Open of Cameroon returns after five years

200 athletes from 15 countries have arrived in Yaounde, to participate in the 11th International Golf Open of Cameroon which returns after it last took place in 2019.

The break was taken due to COVID-19, with Nigerian professional, Willy Gift winning the last edition.

Athletes at the 2024 edition will be competing at the Golf Club in Yaounde in a tournament scheduled between May 9-12.

The event was launched on Tuesday, May 7, and presided over by the Minster of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi. He urged the participants to practice fair play while competing.

The President of the Provisional Management Committee of the Cameroon Golf Federation, Evelyne Ebongue, said everything is set for a successful tournament.

The athletes comprise 70 professionals, 75 amateurs, 33 caddies and 16 children. The cash prize to be won stands at six million FCFA.
