Injury update: “It’s going to take a few weeks” Mbeumo after resuming training
Bryan Mbeumo has resumed training with Brentford FC after sitting out since picking an ankle injury on December 6, in the 1-2 defeat to Brighton.
The Cameroonian forward who missed the AFCON 2023 due to the injury, said he is “happy to be back around the boys”, even though he may only be fully fit to play after the March international break, coach Thomas Frank confirmed.
The operation on his ankle in December required that he sits out for at least three months.
Bryan said it is the biggest injury he’s had.
“I had a similar injury on the same ankle when I was 18 but it was not that bad. I had one month injury and it was over, but I think this one was a little bigger” the forward said. “It’s hard to take it for yourself. Especially as I’m not used to being injured. It was a bit sad for me but as a footballer, you have to face those things” he added.
Mbeumo also disclosed that the injury was an opportunity for him to focus on himself and to acknowledge that it is “big luck” to be fit.
Before his injury, Mbeumo had become a big boost to the Bees, scoring seven goals with three assists in 15 Premier League appearances this season.
