IFFHS declares Cristiano Ronaldo 2023 world best scorer
The International Federation of Football History and Statistics, crowned Cristiano on Monday when it announced on its website that despite FIFA not recognising the Asian Champions League where Ronaldo had 9 goals, the Portuguese will be named the best top goal poacher for the year 2023.
Ronaldo beat Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane, with two goals apart
The two players each had 52 goals but Mbappe was named second because he had 10 goals for his national team France while Kane had 9 for England.
Ronaldo previously won in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 (World’s Best International Goal Scorer) and in 2014, 2015, 2020 (World’s Best Top Division Goal scorer).
“His current victory is the most amazing, because Cristiano Ronaldo managed to beat all other prolific goal-scorers at the age of 38!” IFFHS said in a statement.
Scoring 54 goals has been amazing for a 38 year old whom critics said he was ‘finished’.
But after achieving the feat, the Al Nassr player said he is the only person to determine when it is finished.
