If Ambazonians want to leave, let them go- Political Analyst
Aristide Mono who was guest on a Sunday flagship program at Equinoxe television, said the government has taken a wrong approach to fight against separation being perpetrated by Ambazonians. The iron fist approach and living in denial. “Biya is going soon and will leave us in limbo. People spend time to fool the public that there is no war, but there is war,” he said.
The panelist on the debate program argued that though some Anglophones in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon may not like the mode of operation of the separatists, they are all concerned about what they are fighting for.
He adds that Ministers have been saying that the situation is under control but this is the contrary, “You cannot tell us that the situation is under control but the enemy is imposing it’s law.
Those who say there is no war we want to see them spend weekend in their villages.”
According to Mono, the government should apply social and inclusive political dialogue and at some point allow the Anglophones to speak among themselves what they want ” The option taken by government is not operational…You cannot respond to social demands with guns
They wanted to banslise the situation calling them enemies of the nation.”
He further said Cameroon has had the chance to reduce Boko Haram insurgents in the far north due to the support of the population
“The collaboration permits the army to win but in the northwest region and south west the course is shared by everyone but they have different ways of expressing them. Win the hearts of the population or let Ambazonians go if they want to go. You will not kill all Anglophones because you are fighting Ambazonians. ” He advised the government.
