Cameroon’s unrivalled technology-driven university, ICT University has graduated over 300 potential job creators. The colorful ceremony unfolded Saturday July 26 in Yaounde.
The event was witnessed by several high profile guests. Among them was renowned international legal luminary and peace crusader, Ntumfor Barrister Nico Halle.
He called on the graduates to uphold moral values that will distinguish them from their peers. “…Integrity is a key factor to succeed in our world today. The message I have for the students is to uphold integrity because the world will judge you on the moral platform on which you are operating,” Barrister Nico Halle stated.
Representing the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education was the Secretary General, Prof Gabsa Wilfred. He exhorted the graduates to put into good use the knowledge and skills required.
“The message is simple because they have been trained in ICT which is one of the most powerful tools in the world of employment,” Prof Gabsa stated, adding that: “ So I call on them to practice all what they have gathered while in school”.
ICT University Founder, Prof Victor Mbarika said one of the particularities of the 8th graduation was the number of students from other countries.
He said the number is evidence of the growth of Cameroon in the domain of digital education. He said: ” We saw students coming from all over the world to earn their degrees in Cameroon. That already tells you that Cameroonians do not always have to be the ones going abroad for degrees”.
Prof Mbarika said the government has provided ICT University the platform to build “quality programs admired by the world and Cameroon has become the abroad for many people. we are so happy with the fact that Government has backed what we are doing at the ICT university”.
He added that thee s graduates are going to be job creators and not job seekers. “… the ICT University doesn’t train job seekers, we train job creators and I believe those graduating today are going to be Job creators,” Prof Mbarika stated.
Enter Graduates
The graduates s expressed delight at the quality of training received at the Institution and pledged to put it into practice the skills and knowledge acquired.
One of them, Jacques Bechi said: ” I am proud of achieving this step and I am going into the world to implement all what I have learned”
It is important to underscore that the ICT University remains one of the most globally admired institutions in the domain of digital entrepreneurship studies. Over the years, it has been playing a vital role in transforming the digital landscape of Cameroon and Central Africa by training actors apt to match the ever changing digital world.
