I want to win the golden boot again-Katche Boris
7 goals and 1 assist in 9 matches of the first round – that is the balance sheet of Bamboutos’ top striker, Katche Boris, in the just ended first round of the elite 1 championship.
“I really wanted to score more. Unfortunately, when the league started I was being used as a substitute, but I think my performances have convinced the coach. He now has more confidence in me”, Katche told Katche.
The “man on a mission” also became the first player in the history of the Cameroon League to be amongst the player of the week in and out of Cameroon. He was in the Africa Soccer Zone team of the week, Lions of the week alongside players like Andre Onana, Zambo Anguissa etc. He was also in the elite 1 first eleven (Le 11 Type) in match day 7 following his hat-trick against Canon.
Worthy of note is the fact that when the league started, Katche was being used as a substitute. I think Bamboutos’ Ghanaian coach, Asare Bediako Agyemang, doubted the predatory of the former Rangers Bafut striker. Katche Boris has promised more thrills and spills when hostilities resume. “I will do my best this second round. I want to win the golden boot again”, he added. The MTN elite one championship resumes on December 6. Bamboutos are second in pool A with 16 points, 2 shy of leaders Dynamo. They are the only side to have beaten Dynamo this season.
KATCHE BORIS: IS HE THE NEW MARCUS MOKAKE?
His speed, his endurance capacity, his power, his positioning and his big appetite for goal scoring make him stand out.
For those who have watched the Bamboutos striker play, he reminds many of Marcus Mokake, former Indomitable lions striker and former multiple top scorer in the Cameroon topflight. Katche Boris has the 6 traits of a reliable striker:
1) He is confident but not arrogant! Boris is the type of forward who will not hesitate to take his chances from the 18 yard area. Self-belief is very critical for every striker. In football academies strikers are taught that: “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right”.
2) Katche Boris’ first touches are a marvel to watch, and this is the most important skill for a striker to possess. I’m sure he always puts himself to extra tasks away from teammates. This young man always has a way of squeezing himself out of tight actions. He is a bulldozer.
3) His speed is incredible! Boris is arguably one of the fastest players in the Cameroon topflight at the moment. He combines his physical and mental speed with the ball. In football the speed of thought, also known as “anticipation” is key for every striker. Honestly, he reminds me of Marcus Mokake. I’m seduced to say he is a Marcus Mokake prototype.
4) The former Rangers of Bafut striker has good shot accuracy. He has scored 6 goals in 6 games this season and tops the goal chat. I’m always shocked by his combination of technique and deliberate speed. I’m super sure he undertakes consistent deliberate practice during training. Practice makes perfect.
5) One thing that will seduce you in Boris’ football is his moves. He is not the most technical striker in the league, but his moves are always seen from his on-the-pitch perception, decision and execution. No doubt he is always very self-confident.
6) Last but not least, Katche Boris knows how to position himself well, especially on goal-mouth tussles. He constantly moves between defenders and creates pockets of space notably between the lines.
It’s so awesome to watch him play. He has a bright future, but he must remain humble!
