Government’s loud silence, moves Akere Muna to plead for release of Idabato D.O

International lawyer, Barrister Akere Muna has penned a sorrowful message to the kidnappers of Ewane Roland, Divisional Officer for Idabato, calling on them to release him.

In a statement posted on his social media platforms, Barrister Akere Muna tipped those holding the D.O hostage to consider the effects of such an act on a human being.

“I urge you to reflect on the human cost of your actions. Please consider the sorrow that his family is enduring and the potential for healing and understanding that could arise from his safe return. By releasing Mr Ewane, you would not only demonstrate compassion but also take a step towards fostering a more human and just society,” Akere Muna said.

While calling on the kidnappers to consider the family of the D.O., Barrister Akere Muna added that his heart is heavy, considering the worrisome situation of the Administrator.

Akere Muna’s plea comes after a recent video of the D.O. made rounds on social media, with the administrator pleading for help.

Kidnapped on October 1, 2024, from his house, family sources have disclosed that his abductors are allegedly demanding over half a billion FCFA as ransom.

The wife, Rose Ewane told CNA that the the government has refused to negotiate with terrorists. Initially, the kidnappers had asked for five million USD but later reduced to 700,000 USD, yet nothing has been done because the family cannot afford it.
