Government says Muyuka attack was intimidation tactic

The government of Cameroon, via its spokesperson, Rene Emmanuel Sadi, has reacted to the Muyuka car shooting several hours after the incident occured. In a communique dated September 7th, the communication minister calls on population to shove away panic and promises that government is doing all it can for a return of peace and security.

Sadi has also encouraged the population of the North West and South West regions not give in to intimidations and threats of any sort.

This reaction comes after armed men opened fire on a bus belonging to the Golden Express agency on September 6th at Mile 30 situated in Muyuka. The bus had 14 people on board and 6 of them, including a woman died on the spot while 8 others were sustained injury. The deceased were taken to the Buea regional hospital morgue and the injured are receiving treatmnet in the same facility. The shooting has been claimed by ambazonian fighters who are imposing a 10-day lockdown on the North West and South West regions.

While condemning this act qualified as cowardly and monstrous against innocent civilians, René Emmanuel Sadi, on behalf of Paul Biya, has extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished a quick recovery to those wounded.
