Government forces kill Bike rider in Bafut for keeping overgrown hair
On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, Ngwa Jonas went about his commercial riding, transporting passengers from one end of the subdivision to another.
In the evening of that fateful day, Ngwa dropped some passengers at Mile 11 Bafut but heavy rains caught up with him.
A source tells CNA that the victim decided to take refuge in a filling station located 15 metres away from a control post.
“At this point, some soldiers called and asked them to identify themselves, which they all identified. They were asked to remove their caps and upon seeing the hairstyle of Ngwa Jonas, they ask the other guy to go and he was detained there by 9 pm. That same Tuesday he was executed 500m away from the checkpoint.” Someone who has knowledge of the incident told Cameroon News Agency.
But when the father of Ngwa Jonas visited the scene, the government forces lied that they took him and his bike to Up Station in Bamenda, meanwhile his son was lying some 500 metres away, already dead.
He has been buried.
