Ghanaian MP Adongo, apologizes to Harry Maguire after mockery of player
Ghanaian MP Isaac Adongo, has taken back the comments he made about Harry Maguire’s poor form with Man United last year, while the player has accepted the apology given.
“That humility has made my day, this brings closure,” Mr. Adongo said as he hailed the England center-back.
The MP had used the defender in a comparison with Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s management of Ghana’s economic affairs. Adongo said the economic situation was similar to Maguire’s poor performance on the pitch at the time.
“When Harry’s form improved, I felt that he deserved an apology. As a lover of football, it was important that I recognize his turnaround” the MP said.
“See you at Old Trafford soon,” Harry wrote on X (formerly Twitter), in response to the MP’s post addressing the incident.
Maguire has been more efficient with the Red Devils this season. The defender has scored one goal with an assist.
Manchester United will face Everton on Sunday, with a possible return of goalkeeper Andre Onana from an injury sustained during Cameroon’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mauritius on November 17.
