Gendarmes arrest 15 suspected drug traffickers

Officials of the Criminal Investigations Service of the first Gendarmerie region have said they are intensifying efforts geared towards the arrest of some individuals they refer to as “dangerous criminals on the loose” in the capital City Yaounde.

The authorities believe the arrest of 15 hoodlums including two suspected drug traffickers and four ex-convicts will pave the way.

This National Gendarmerie unit recently presented to the public these 15 alleged criminals they nabbed days ago, following repeated criminal cases reported by the population in neighborhoods such as Carrefour Mballa 2, Tongolo, and Carrefour du Palais Présidentiel in Yaounde.

The arrested two suspected drug dealers and four ex-convicts were found with psychotropic drugs and deadly objects they allegedly used to intimidate their victims into surrendering their belongings.

Some of the seized items in the possession of these suspects include a kilogram of cannabis, 70 grams of cocaine, knives/daggers, as well as blades.

The suspects are undergoing interrogation at the Criminal Investigations Service of the first Gendarmerie region headquarters.
