GBHS Kribi PTA general assembly turns chaotic
Disgruntled parents and teachers came out of the Government Bilingual High School Kribi parents teachers association general assembly furious.
The meeting which took place on January 8 was for the election of a new PTA bureau considering the old one was accused of mismanagement. According to them, an election cannot hold when the outgoing bureau has not presented a balance sheet of their 5-year rule to show how funds were managed and guide the new bureau to be elected on how to start running the PTA affairs.
“The G.A had no agenda. How can we just dash into election worst of it without the outgoing bureau presenting us their balance sheet. It is not done, impossible! We decided to walk out because we are not idiots. We want things to be done rightly. Thank God the Divisional Offier of Kribi II reasoned with us,” a parent explained.
The Principal (PTA President) and his outgoing bureau were given 14 days to present the balance sheet of their work by the the parents and teachers.
“We want to remind the outgoing president and his bureau that the G.A. is sovereign. They should give us the balance sheet because it is the money of parents at stake here. This should be very clear. We have decided to take action. We will go extra miles to seek justice,” another parent added.
The election of the new PTA bureau has thus been postponed until the outgoing bureau presents the requested balance sheet.
