Gay Rights: Atanga Nji warns against conference in Cameroon
The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji has said that anyone organizing a conference to talk about gay rights in Cameroon is doing so at his own risk.
A French Ambassador for LGBTQ, Jean-Marc Berthon, is expected in Cameroon from June 27, 2023. The Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbella Mbella, had escalated the situation by informing his MINAT, counterpart that the French diplomat has a mission to discuss gay rights in Cameroon.
But the Cameroon constitution prohibits such practices, he reiterated.
On June 22, 2023, the Minister of Territorial Administration, enjoined the Governor of the Centre region, Paul Naseri Bea, to be vigilant and make sure that such a conference should not take place in his area of jurisdiction.
Mr. Atanga said the Ambassador can visit Cameroon but should not organize any conference to talk about gay rights.
