G.P.S. Mevobo-Galim to resume in sorry state
The President of the parents teachers association and a staff member of Government Primary School Mevobo in Galim sub-division, Bamboutos Division of the West region have said that despite the disgusting state of the institution, school resumption will be effective like elsewhere across Cameroon come September 5th.
The classrooms have no doors, windows, good benches and offices. The roof sheets are torn off exposing the classrooms to rain and sunshine.
Authorities at the school say although it is in such a pitiful state, its continuous existence is thanks to the little effort put in by the PTA. Although it is in such a state, the school has been recording 100% success in various examinations.
The staff member revealed that G.P.S. Mevobo was placed under the Public Investment Budget. In 2018, the project to construct befitting structures was handed to a company that started works and abandoned halfway. Since then the whereabouts of the contractors are not known. They disappeared with the funds abandoning the uncompleted structures in ruins.
Parents of pupils and the school are now imploring the government to take quick action.
