French Embassy pushes for decentralization in North West region
The EMbassy of France in Cameroon has revealed that it is interested in fostering the descentralization process in the restive North West rgeion.
A delagation form the EMbassy visited Bamenda, the main City of the North West region, where they signed agreements with Cameroonian authorities.
The Embassy said it “Reaffirmed its commitment to local development and the deepening of the decentralization process.”
The diplomats also revealed that French development program CD2 will fund the tarring if 11KM road in the Bamenda
On September 30 to October 4, 2019, the Cameroon government organized the The Major National Dialogue various opposition parties, aimed at resolving the Anglophone Crisis.
One of the major recommendations was the creation of a Special Status for the Anglophone regions. The Major National Dialogue also stressed on the accelaration of the descentralization process in Cameroon.
Separatists fighting for their independence in these two regions boycotted the dialogue and said they would only sit with Cameroon government as equal parties with an international body as mediator.
