Four die as building collapses in Ngoundere

At least 4 persons are have died after a four-storey uncompleted building collapsed on July 25, 2023, in the Côte D’Azur vicinity in Baladji, Ngaoundere, Adamawa Region.

The lifeless bodies of a woman, her two children and her younger sister have so far been removed from the rubble.

 Rescue teams have continued to wait and search tirelessly to rescue more people at the scene.

The Governor of the Adamawa Region, Kildadi Taguieke Bouka, visited the scene of the incident.

During his visit, the governor explained that search efforts were underway to ensure no other life is lost.

“We hope that at the end of this intervention, the people who are supposed to be inside will be alive” Governor Kildadi said.

He also announced a series of measures to reduce these anarchical constructions on his territory of command.

The four corpses have been deposited at the Ngoundere Regional Hospital after being identified by their relatives.

The incident in Ngoundere happened barely few days after another four-storey building collapsed in Douala on Sunday, July 23, 2023, killing more than 37.
