Four Cameroonians nominated for CAF awards 2022
The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has released its first list of nominees in the women’s categories for the 2022 CAF awards.
The categories include Player of the Year, Interclub Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Club of the Year. The nominees for two other categories; Coach of the Year and National Team of the Year will be revealed later this month of July. CAF has also specified that the performance of players at the ongoing Africa women’s cup of nations will also be taken into consideration for the pending categories for the purpose of credibility.
Four Cameroonians are present in the player of the year category. They are Aboudi Onguene, Nchout Njoya Ajara, Rose Bella and Jeanette Ngock Yango. This is the only category which has Cameroonians involved for now. Should the lionesses perform better than they have been doing in their last games, the team will have a shot at being enlisted for best coach and national team of the year.
The final list will be decided by a voting panel made up of CAF Technical Committee, media representatives, head coaches and captains of Member Associations and clubs involved at the group stage of the Interclub competitions.
The winners of the respective categories will be announced at the Awards Gala to hold on July 21 in Rabat, Morocco.
