Former PM Philemon Yang to assume Presidency of 79th UN General Assembly

Former Cameroonian Prime Minister Philemon Yang has been selected to lead the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The announcement, confirming Yang’s presidency, was made following Cameroon’s nomination of the esteemed politician for the prestigious role, months back.
Yang’s nomination received resounding support from the Cameroonian government, with President Paul Biya personally spearheading efforts to garner international backing for Yang’s candidacy.
His candidacy was presented in July 2023 to the heads of accredited diplomatic missions in Cameroon by the Minister of External Relations. LeJeune Mbella Mbella.
Having served in various key positions within Cameroon’s political landscape, Yang is expected to bring a wealth of experience to his new role on the global scene.
With his extensive background in diplomacy and governance, he is expected to address the pressing issues facing the international community and steer the UN General Assembly towards meaningful action.
