Fecafoot picks two ‘unknown’ Anglophone Comedians for the world cup

By Laura Nde

Following criticism on the choice of social media influences and content creators the Cameroon football federation picked to play an animation role in Qatar ahead of the world cup, the regional president of Fecafoot South West and 4th vice president of Fecafoot, Henry Njalla Quan Junior, in a statement said 50 places were allocated for Cameroon for both supporters and influencers and they picked two supporters and two influencers, unknown to social media users.

“The decision was taken to select fans from the various towns that hosted professional games which are Yaoundé, Limbe, Douala, Bafoussam, Garoua, etc based on their passion for football…and two English speaking fans, Ayi Jeremy Mporebo and Nchang Kelly were selected from Tiko and Buea because they were the most deserving and best fans from the anglophone regions.”

Content creators in the South West and North West regions have felt betrayed and abandoned. Surprisingly, Mr. Njalla Quan revealed that they went for an Anglophone influencer called, Essome Nzima but popularly known as, Hoga, someone from the Littoral region who can barely speak pidgin English or the English language.

Here, the natural decision was to select artists and web influencers who have been promoting the image of FECAFOOT and Cameroon Football over the years. English Speaking artists and influencers amongst including Tamula and Hoga were also selected

With regards to English-speaking comedian, Fuh Denis whose slogan, “We go take data cup”, meaning “We will win the world cup”, Njalla Quan junior said, FECAFOOT on no occasion has ever used the slogan on any of its media or promotional activity. He noted that the banners spotted in Qatar with the slogan must have been printed by different supporters and groups.

He concluded by refuting the claim that FECAFOOT has left out English-speaking Cameroonians as part of the traveling team of fans to Qatar and he encourages everyone to focus their energy on supporting the lions.

Comedians like 237 Town Cryer, have come out to denounce the abandonment adding, “This is how the crisis started in the North West and South West regions”
