Former basic education boss, Haman Adama is dead
Haman Adama, former minister of basic education is no more. She died at the age of 74 in Yaounde on Monday April 29, 2024 and will be interred Tuesday April 30, in Yaoundé after hommage that will be paid at the Etoudi Mosque in accordance with the Muslim traditions.
Haman Adama entered the government in the year 2000 and was at the helm of the Cameroonian basic education sector from 2004-2009 when she was replaced by Youssouf Adidja Alim.
In 2010, she was accused of embezzling the sum of FCFA 1 billion and was detained at the Yaoundé central prison following the operation sparrow hawk. After spending more than 2 years in detention, she was officially informed of the accusations against her. The member of government according to dispositions of the special criminal court at that time, reimbursed FCFA over 200 million and was freed in 2018, during the presidential election campaign period.
Since then, she decided to remain out of public sight until her death 6 years later.
