Former army captain arrested in theft and toture case

The news has sent shock waves around the social media planet since July 18th morning. Former Army Captain and now pastor Michel Julio Effa Effa has been arrested and taken to the judicial police for alleged theft and torture.

The sad story started during the month of June when billionaire and CPDM member Jean Sylvain Mvondo was attacked by 8 armed men in his Omnisport neighborhood residence. After tying his security men, wife and kids up, Sylvain Mvondo was tortured for five endless hours. Hours during which the assailants went as far as using a hot iron on his body to get him to give them more money and other valuables.

Jean Sylvain Mvondo has been evacuated to Europe

After their attack, the gang exited the compound and Sylvain was evacuated to Europe for proper medical care. On June 26th, just a few weeks after the robbery, a man was arrested in relation to the attack and this arrest led authorities to their most recent catch.

Police sources say at the time of the arrest of Pastor Effa Effa Michel Julio, leader of the Eglise Jean Baptiste du Cameroun (EJBC), 25 guns were in his possession with 3 of them coming from their latest job. The arrest was carried out in the Aka’a Esse village situated 7km away from Sangmelima. The weapons had been concealed in his church.

Jean Sylvain Mvondo, the victim of this attack, is public investments program director at the ministry of economy and is also president of the CPDM Dja and Lobo I section.
