Fon Gwan Mbanyamsig III launches “operation green Guzang” to fight climate change

HRH Fon Gwan Mbanyamsig III, traditional ruler of Guzang village in Momo Division in the North West region, has launched “Operation Green Guzang,” a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming the village into a thriving ecosystem.
The project focuses on planting economic trees such as pears, mangoes, and plums, which will provide sustainable income sources for villagers and contribute to environmental conservation.
The initiative’s launch was marked by a ceremony where Tanjoh Fridrick, the Fon’s Representative and former Mayor of Batibo Sub Division, outlined the project’s objectives.
According to Fridrick, HRH Fon Gwan Mbanyamsig III is passionate about “Operation Green Guzang” because it will enhance environmental conservation, generate income and employment opportunities, and support local economic development.
He also explained that given the socio-economic crisis that has affected the Anglophone regions of Cameroon for nearly a decade, this initiative is a timely intervention that will help stabilize the community.
One of the key aspects of “Operation Green Guzang” is its emphasis on education. By encouraging children to attend school, the village will be empowering future generations to make informed decisions that will benefit themselves, the village, and the nation at large.
The project’s impact extends beyond environmental conservation and economic growth. By reducing poverty and increasing stability, “Operation Green Guzang” will also promote peace and economic cohesion in the village.
