Fon Dieudonne Admits Role in Alleged FCFA 30 Million Travel Scam

By Stephen Tadaha

Fon Dieudonne a former Cameroonian Amputee Footballer, has acknowledged involvement in a scamming deal that has flooded the mainstream media and social media landscapes recently.

Contacted via phone call by our reporter Stephen Tadaha on Monday February 23,the former footballer and amputee explained during the 12-minute exchange, that he did receive huge sums of money for travel opportunities from his close relatives in Cameroon.

Fon said at the beginning, he trusted the process and was deceived by a certain man he called, Usman Mustafa, President of the Cameroon Amputee Football Federation.

According to Fon, the process began back in 2024 when the country had to take part in a competition in Colombia. He was contacted by Usman, and they both put in place a network of immigrants who had to travel as supporters of the Cameroon team.

“Trusting the process, given that the idea came from a personality like Usman, I contacted my close relative,” he narrated.

“I received money and transferred it to Usman through unidentified numbers,” he affirmed. Usman reportedly delivered fake documents to the victims, who were halted in the airport.

At this point, Usman disappeared and was unreachable despite numerous attempts by Fon to reach him. Fon said he eventually bore the burden of the act.

“Usman became unreachable despite many attempts to contact him. It was through some of my posts on Facebook that he appeared again,” Fon said. ” Fon continued by saying Usman, for a second time, went off and he repeated the same strategy to make him come back.

Fon also affirmed having singlehandedly settled the debts of all victims of the scam, except Elvis and his sister, based in Batibo, who are demanding over FCFA 11 million. He did not, however, disclose the exact number of victims and the amount already reimbursed.

Regarding measures taken to resolve the matter, the Guzang community in the US tried to sort out the issue after successfully reaching Usman Mustafa. Through a group chat whose details and date were not revealed, Usman promised to settle FCFA 4.5 million out of the over FCFA 11 million. He also said other strategies remain confidential.

In order to prevent similar situations in the future, Fon says he will not be part of such activities again.

The US-based Cameroonian is accused of scamming fellow Cameroonians of over FCFA 30 million while promising them travel opportunities during the Amputee Football trip to Colombia.

One of the alleged victims, a man whose only name we got as Elvis, based in Batibo, North West Region of Cameroon, cried out in a video circulating on social media, saying he and his family members paid over FCFA 11 million to Fon but never succeeded in traveling.

People became bitter with Fon because he usually sounded aggressive on social media, dismissing claims and telling the accusers to go h”ll.

However, when the figures became high, especially with a lady who said Fon allegedly promised to bring her to the US, and in turn she shared intimate pictures with him while in her matrimonial home, Fon became humble and started explaining what actually happened.
