The Fon of Mankon, His Royal Majesty Fo Fru-Asah Angwafor IV, during a weeklong visit to the Fako Division, intrigued Mankon sons and daughters into more developmental ventures in the area and back home. The visit from May 4 to 11, 2025, witnessed several activities across the towns of Limbe, Tiko and Buea. It concluded with a grand cultural jamboree on May 10 at the esplanade of the Buea Council.
The final event was attended, amongst others, by the Mayor of Buea, David Mafani Namange. Branches of the Mankon Cultural and Development Association (MACUDA) from Douala, Muyuka, Kumba, Limbe, Tiko, and Mutengene all answered present. They were joined by sister communities of Bamendakwe and Nkwen to celebrate the auspices event. It was a platform to exhibit the rich song, dance, food, language and dress code of the Mankon people.
Fon Angwafor said the visit was geared at strengthening the Mankon population resident in Fako. Such that they could live peacefully, expand their coast and not forget about their home. He encouraged them to come on board with developmental projects back home, like the provision of water and the creation of a community radio station. Fo Angwafor further charged his people on the coast to remain law-abiding and respectful to the state, its institutions, and their host communities.

In a discourse titled: “Mankon Fako social intercourse”, the organising committee chair, Prof Ngwa Gideon, reiterated the importance of using culture as a platform for unity. He said that despite the differences, it could better serve as a unifier. ” A dialogue of cultures does not mean the uniformity of cultures. It is the celebration of unity in diversity. We are all Cameroonians, and we are all sons of the same fatherland. Our difference in dress code is our strength. Our unity in diversity is our strength, and there can be no greater cultural dialogue than what we are seeing here right now,” Prof Ngwa asserted.
The host president of MACUDA Buea, Dr Hedwig Akumah, traced the history and evolution of Mankon to hearers. She edified them on the personality of the Fon and what he encarnated. Further highlighting the accomplishments of the visiting Fon, whom she described as a “born leader”.
