Finance minister says fire did not destroy documents in ministries
Documents, computers and other items have been razed by fire at the annex building hosting the ministries of livestock, fisheries and animal husbandry; commerce and fisheries and animal husbandry control services in Yaounde.
The fire was reported at 5pm on June 25. Fire fighters succeeded to stop the expansion of flames to nearby buildings and fortunately, no loss in human life was reported although material damage is huge.
Nonetheless, the ministry of finance has assured all data has been saved and measures taken to relocate staff and work will continue normally.
An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the fire. This is not the first time fire is reported in public offices. In 2014, it was at the ministry of communication, in 2022, the regional delegation of public health in Garoua also caught fire.
