Fecafoot president condemns RFI publication
In a release signed on October 7 2022, Samuel Eto’o Fils, Fecafoot president describes as defamatory and ridiculous the affirmations of an RFI reporter who wrote that most Cameroon footballers use witchcraft during competitions.
“Coupe du monde 2022: quand foot et mysticisme se côtoient au Cameroun” is the caption of that article which states that Cameroon football players have already begun rushing to witch doctors in distant villages and in the equatorial forest to get powers. The article published on October 6 on the RFI website reportedly gathered opinions of some footballers and football actors such as Jean Bruno Tagne, former campaign manager of Eto’o Fils who confirmed “many sacrifices are done in the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium at night… Cows are slaughtered and their blood rubbed on players”.
While condemning such allegations which tarnish the image of Cameroon, preparing for the World cup in November, Samuel Eto’o has demanded that this reaction be published on the RFI website as well, to wash Cameroon off all allegations.
