FECAFOOT-One All Sports deal, what went wrong?
By Joe-Pavel Nyuysuliy
The much-celebrated deal between the ONE ALL SPORTS kit supplier and FECAFOOT, has been terminated by the Cameroon football governing body.
In a communique released on Tuesday, August 6, the federation said the sportswear company has not lived up to expectations. The three-year agreement signed with One All Sports in August 2022, was presented as “the most lucrative equipment contract ever concluded by Cameroon”.
FECAFOOT said the equipment manufacturer agreed to pay higher than other contenders. The agreement obliged One All Sports to pay one billion FCFA to FECAFOOT every year, besides providing a VIP bus for the Indomitable Lions and making equipment available for fans at “reasonable” prices.
All of the assurances made were merely on paper, as little has been done in fulfillment of the contract terms. A lot of questions have been asked, especially about the promised bus which has not been provided to date.
FECAFOOT is presently faced with the same issue of “contractual commitment”, that let to the separation with former equipment supplier Coq Sportif.
The federation has said it gives “great importance” to the “proper execution of contractual commitments.”
In a similar cycle of events, the Samuel Eto’o-led football federation plans to launch the search for a new kit manufacturer that will “commensurate with the prestigious status of Cameroon’s national selections,” FECAFOOT has said.
The federation has indicated that Cameroon’s National Football Selections will wear “One All Sports” products for the last time during the competitions scheduled in the month of September 2024.
