FECAFOOT insists only tickets sold by federation to be accepted for match against Cape Verde
The Cameroon Football Federation has said only tickets sold by the federation will be used to access the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium on Saturday, June 8, for the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde.
It dismissed what it called “rumours circulating on social media” about the sales of tickets for the match. The federation said there has been “confusing” information spread “to tarnish the image of Cameroon”.
“This rumour is cleverly fuelled by people lurking in the shaddows who have made it their mission to tarnish the image of Cameroon and its National Team” the federation wrote in a communique.
The Indomitable Lions have been training under the supervision of the sports ministry, which FECAFOOT has said is handling what is supposed to be coordinated by the federation. When FECAFOOT announced the sales of the tickets, critics rubbished the move, giving credit to the sports ministry as the structure currently in charge.
However, the football governing body has pointed out that FECAFOOT is the only institution recognised by FIFA and CAF as the organiser of international matches at local level. It has proceeded with preparations, with a meeting and pre-match press conference scheduled on Friday, June 7, at the FECAFOOT head office in Yaounde.
