Fecafoot decides-SYNAFOC Out, ANFC In

By Biwah Bryan

Fecafoot’s executive committee has voted for the General Assembly to oust the National Syndicate of Cameroonian Footballers (SYNAFOC) from the General Assembly and replace it with the National Association of Cameroonian Footballers (ANFC).

This decision was made during Fecafoot’s executive committee meeting in Yaoundé on Friday, November 15. As a result, SYNAFOC, led by former Indomitable Lion Jeremi Njitap, will no longer be a member of the Cameroon football fédération if approved by the GA.

Founded in 1996, SYNAFOC has been a vocal advocate for Cameroonian players’ interests, particularly those playing locally. Recently, the union introduced a barometer to track elite teams’ payment of players and made recommendations to Fecafoot for amendments, which were ultimately ignored.

SYNAFOC’s suggestions on various aspects of the sport were also disregarded by Fecafoot, prompting the union to seek FIFA’s intervention.

The newly brought in ANFC, led by former TKC and Indomitable lions player, Lucien Mettomo started their activities in 2023 and has gained Fecafoot’s confidence.

If approved by the Fecafoot general assembly on November 16, which is expected to tackle on Cameroon football, then the fédération will no longer recognize SYNAFOC.
