Fake Ambazonia commander arrested with many sim cards in Douala
Many people are benefiting from the ongoing conflict in the North West and South West regions. Some are using the porous security situation to steal from people both state and non-state actors, others use their power to kill, intimidate, kidnap, arrest, among others.
But there is one activity that has become unbecoming; the act of threatening people on phone to send money or else they will be kidnapped for ransom, or even kill for betraying the “struggle”.
At first, victims used to think that the speaker on the other end of the phone is a combatant but as cases became rampant, with investigations made by CNA, most of these people calling, threatening, and asking for money are in prison.
Some are walking freely, milking people of their hard-earned money. One of such is Patrick Ndenge, a native from Mankon in the North West region. He was arrested for the second time with dozens of sim cards that he uses to scam his victims.
Ndenge will call his victims by guessing numbers and when you pick he will tell you that he is an Ambazonia General, threatening you to pay money for “betraying the revolution”
To some extent, he is said to have kidnapped his victims whom he knew. Police say it is the second time he was being arrested in Bonaberie, Douala.
Security forces say the thieve has more than five bank accounts across Douala.
