Explosion kills 27 in southern Russia

An explosion has killed at least 27 persons and many others were injured at a fuel station in the southern part of Russia.
The explosion occurred on the night of August 14, 2023, in the regional capital Makhachkala.
Russia’s state news agency RIA Novosti reported that the fire started from a car repair shop and spread to a nearby gas station, prompting a blast.
According to the unnamed eye witness quoted by Russian Newspaper Izvestia; “After the explosion, everyone fell on our heads. We couldn’t see anything anymore.”
Doctors also stated that three children are part of those who died in the explosion
Emergencies Ministry said about 260 emergency workers were deployed to assist in the airlifting of the injured to Moscow for treatment.
No one is said to know the cause of the fire but investigations have been opened.
