CNA Exclusive: Meet Nkonda Titus Aghen, the British navy hiding behind fake profiles to cause civilian harm in Cameroon’s armed conflict

It is more than three years of his activism, three years since Cameroonian-born, now British citizen, Nkonda Titus, started a social media war against Ambazonia separatists in the North West and South West Regions. His reason for fighting the separatists is that in 2017 when he visited his village to bury his late mother in Widikum, Momo Division in the North West region, he was kidnapped by the combatants.
After securing his release, he went back to the UK and decided to wage a war against the Separatists. He then created a Facebook page called Ma Kontri Pipo Dem, MKPD- meaning, My Fellows, My Brethren, My Fellow folks, My Fellow countrymen. Some of the pages especially the original MKPD had been taken down by Facebook, but several roots have sprung up. He never and may never show a picture of himself to the public and his followers because he knows the damage, he has caused to the civilian population, but Cameroon News Agency has been following up on his activities and after months of investigating, we can confirm the pictures and information gathered are 100 percent those of Nkonda Titus Aghen.

Within the first year of his activism against secession, Nkonda Titus had successfully cloned several pages of leaders of the Non-State Armed Groups. He created an online movement called “Blacklegism” encouraging people to denounce fighters in their neighborhoods. This yielded some fruits as he received praise from those having the same opinion.
But as the praises increased, he deviated from his initial “Sun shining” separatists to targeting the civilian population, using his numerous Facebook profiles and pages to target families of separatists, their children, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and friends. Just like the Rwandan Genocide started with the media used to settle scores, Mr. Nkonda Titus Aghen has abused the social media space, instead of fighting the separatists, he has been committing war crimes.
Why British Silence?
Nkonda Titus Aghen is not a citizen of Cameroon because he already has British nationality. Cameroon does not accept dual citizenship. So why does his activism target the Cameroonian civilian population in the Anglophone regions? The United Kingdom recognizes war crimes as breaches of the Geneva Conventions committed during an armed conflict.
According to the UK, types of acts that constitute war crimes include; willful killing, torture, extensive destruction of property not justified by military necessity unlawful deportation, the intentional targeting of civilians, and the taking of hostages.
Crimes against humanity include; acts committed at any time (not just during armed conflict) as part of a widespread or systematic attack, directed against any civilian population with knowledge of the attack. This would include offenses such as murder, torture, rape, severe deprivation of liberty in violation of fundamental rules of international law, and enforced disappearance of persons.
The British Navy, Nkonda Titus is intentionally targeting civilians in the Anglophone regions when he writes in his numerous pages that, “We need to Kumkum their reme, repe, pikin dem”, a symbolism for killing, meaning the relatives of separatists should be targeted “deliver kumkum” meaning killed. This jargon is used to bypass Facebook Algorithm.

“If anyone knows the house of any Ambazonia fighter, they need to target their mother, father, child, and other relatives.”
Voice of Nkonda Titus in one of his shows in 2021 asking his followers to call and intimidate their siblings and parents “Blacklegs just dial any number and say you are an Ambazonia general, terrorize them, I am the King of Blackleg, confuse the Anglophones the more…My fellow people, if your mother is confused, register a different number and call her and ask her to send you money- terrorize your own mother and give the number to other friends and terrorize her well so that when next she hears about Amba she will insult them,” It should be noted that most people have relocated to other areas because of actions like this. They receive calls threatening their lives. Some of those calling go as far as kidnapping the victims, the blame is always on separatists since they are considered as the “illegal bad ones” while the legal bad ones like Nkonda Titus, roam streets free.
To bring to notice recent cases, in a video shared on one of his pages, he said, “If they have ever kidnapped you and you want your ransom back, you know where to take it. This girl is the one using ransom money, if you want to get back at Amba go through his family. Take the pictures of their relatives, mother, father, sisters and put them out there to make them fear”
This video was collaged with a picture of a dead Separatists fighter, his girlfriend, and his child. As a Navy Officer, Nkonda Titus Aghen does not understand that women and children are supposed to be protected during war. Exposing their faces to the public for bashing speaks volumes of a man building his case at the ICC.
The worst case is, his followers join in the comment section to call for the arrest of the woman.
Several such cases including giving information to security forces to investigate civilians have ended up in forced disappearance or wrong target. The repercussion has been enormous. A piece of evidence that he talks directly with the Cameroon military can be seen in several screenshots shared on his page.
He receives fake stories and posts them, a former Ambazonia leader who has now joined the campaign for peace in Cameroon, Dr. Success Nkongho said on July 27, 2022, that he had been sending fake intel to Mr. Nkonda who has been posting them, and exposing innocent civilians to be arrested by the Cameroon military. Success Nkongho indirectly indicted himself for putting the lives of civilians in danger, but said did it to find out if Mr Nkonda really investigates interls sent to him.
It is not certain why the UK has decided to keep mute as her own citizen is involved in targeting civilians in the Anglophone regions. Mr. Titus who is a Navy boastfully makes some of his videos off the shores as he sails with British Marines, especially along the Caribbeans, former and present British colonies.
Who is Nkonda Titus?
You will first identify him as the man who likes to wear caps and permanently shaves, commonly called in Cameroon “moon head”. Born in 1984 in Widikum, Momo Division in the North West region( even though his real age is not yet certain as his elder brother Ghislain Nkonda alleged on social media that his kid brother Titus stole his Passport and traveled to the UK in 1999) CNA cannot independently verify such allegations.
Young Nkonda Titus Aghen attended the Catholic Primary School in Widikum, where he finished his First School Leaving Certificate and studied at the then Government Secondary School, now called Government Bilingual High School Widikum.
He left for the UK in 1999 and studied Technology and Science. Then had his GCSE and Advanced Levels at the Holy Family Technology College in London, UK.
He later had a Master’s Degree in computer engineering at the Queen Mary University in London, UK. The father of one son born in 2022, is from a family of 9 (two died) left with 7 children, six men, and one woman. He is married to Daba Jolivate Andang who lives in Yaoundé, the capital city of Cameroon, where Mr. Nkonda frequently visits.
Close to a decade now, he was recruited to serve Her late Majesty’s Royal Navy where he specialized as a Weapon Engineer. Apart from sailing with the Royal Navy, Nkonda Titus is a lover of tech. He creates websites and uses them as a hobby. This explains why he is handy in information management, making live shows during his free time while sailing with the Navy and speaking Pidgin English which bypasses monitors and Facebook algorithms.
The Cameroon Government is aware of the activities of the Brit but has never said anything contrary as the person in question comes and visits top-ranking officials – the government is only interested in eradicating separatists but using the wrong means, and wrong people to go about this. Her own citizens are being targeted with impunity.
Recently a group of rights groups said forced disappearance has become rampant in Cameroon’s conflict North West and South West regions. Activities like that of Nkonda Titus Aghen, can only contribute to more forced disappearances with many running for their lives or arrested and kept incommunicado. Several of his outings may be deleted after this article but CNA has been keeping records of some videos and screenshots.
