Eto’s sidelines Anglophone online influencers in Qatar preparation
More than two dozen of Francophone online influencers, skit makers, filmmakers, producers, and artists were invited by Fecafoot President Samuel Eto’o on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Le Famous restaurant in Yaounde for a dinner in which the World Cup, Qatar 2022 was top on agenda.
The Cameroon Football Federation is counting on the massive support of influencers to tell the story of Cameroon and project a positive image online during the World Cup.
They each received personalized invitations from the President.
But not everyone was invited, at least not a good representative of Anglophone influencers was invited to Yaounde. From star artists KO-C to skit makers like Richard Comedy, Grand Lawrenzo, Copees and Caro, Aunty Felicia, Senior Pastor, Spaco, and a host of others who live in the regions facing the realities.
A few like Magasco, Rinyu and Tzy are certainly not numerical representative of Anglophone entertainers.
By sidelining these Anglophone entertainers, Samuel Eto’o indirectly revealed how shallow his communication and marketing are or how biased he can be when it comes to equal representation in a world cup that concerns the entire nation, Cameroon.
Not too long ago, Eto’o was seen in Limbe, South West region, eating grilled beef and confirming that there is nothing happening in that part. A comment that angered Anglophones going through six years of conflict.
