Emilienne Mvogo will not be released-Justice Minister
The former Secretary-General at the Presidency knows very well how administration functions. Even though the present SGPR, Ngoh Ngoh is the longest-serving, a decision ordered on phone did not go well with the Justice Minister.
The Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Laurent Esso in a correspondence dated June 3rd clearly stated that the centre regional head of taxation Emilienne Mvogo will stay in jail.
This comes after a letter from the Minister of State, Secretary-General at the presidency Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh requested that she be released to appear before the court free. Justice minister, Laurent Esso explained that Mrs. Mvogo’s lawyers’ initial request for her release had been rejected on May 30th by the judge and can only be re-examined by the controls chamber of the court of appeal on June 6th during her next court appearance.
Mvogo and eight other taxation agents are accused by Anecdote group head Amougou Belinga of trying to scam him of F CFA 500 million in supposed taxes. She is also accused of blackmail and influence peddling among others. She was arrested on May 19th but her alleged accomplices are still on the run.
Beneath these legal issues, lies an unquenchable thirst for power between clans fighting to control state institutions in front of a helpless Octogenarian, Paul Biya.
