ELECAM: number of registrations on electoral lists have doubled
According to elections Cameroon, ELECAM, 246.669 youth have registered on the electoral lists this year against 131.778 in 2021.
The figures were revealed this September 1st 2022 by the Director General of ELECAM, Dr Eric Essousse as he presented this year’s overall registration figures on the electoral lists. The registration exercise ended with a total of 338.376 registrations amongst which 211.457 men, 126.919 women, 246.669 youth and 308 persons living with disabilities. This year, the youth alone make up 73% of the total figures, a statistic which is first for the election body.
It was also revealed that a total of 7.298.244 potential voters do exist in ELECAM’s uncleaned database with 3.905.642 men, 3.392.582 women, 2.757.718 youth and 34.205 persons living with disabilities.
The impressive figures realised by ELECAM this year are thanks to the field deployment strategy adopted its teams all over the national territory and also thanks to collaboration from political parties.
The registration process ended on August 31st and will resume on January 1st for the year 2023.
