Ebolowa: teacher punches student to near-death
The sad incident occured earlier this week in the campus of Government Technical High School (GTHS) Ambam in the South region of Cameroon. Ulrich Ateba Ngane, student of Premier F3 in the technical college, reportedly disrespected his teacher during a counselling session:
“The guidance counselor was giving advice to students on how to behave and get good results this new school year, when Ulrich disrespected him. The counselor during an altercation, hit him on the stomach and this almost cost his life” Jean Marc Betare, principal GTHS Ambam.
The student who complained of intense stomach pain was rushed to the Ebolowa regional hospital where medics attended to him immediately:
“His spleen tore as a result of the blow causing internal bleeding but the operation was successful and he is out of danger now” a doctor at the facility explains.
As of now, no news has filtered on the whereabouts of the guidance counselor, but the minister of secondary education who stopped at the Ebolowa regional hospital to check on the student, has announced severe security measures in all secondary schools to thwart violence from both teachers and students this academic year.
