Douala: Two suspected murderers of pregnant woman arrested
Two members of a gang of four, who reportedly killed a pregnant woman in her shop in Ndokoti, Douala, have been arrested by the judicial police.
Alice Mendoua, 35, was stabbed several times on February 23, after she tried to resist a gang of thieves who had come to rob her.
The judicial police indicate that one of the bandits was the lady’s neighbour. He had noticed that Alice was in possession of a huge sum of money.
“After learning that the deceased had a certain amount of money, they set up an operation with the aim of stealing it” Police Commissioner, Essono Edou Gerard said.
“Two of them went to the store, and the other two were on the lookout” the Police officer recounted. “While in the shop, one of them seized the victim’s bag, and as the lady tried to resist, they stabbed her” Essono Edou revealed.
Sources indicate that the woman was heavily pregnant with twins.
Security forces have said an investigation is ongoing to arrest the two remaining suspects who are still on the run.
