Douala: suspected cannabis smoker stabs boy to death

A young man whose name CNA got as Eben has been stabbed to death by another man believed to be an indian hemp smoker. The incident occured on Wednesday 26 October at about 8:00pm in the “non glacer” neigborhood which is a few metres away from carrefour Nelson Mandela in the Douala III municipality. The remains of the victim have been deposited at a morgue.

According to eye witnesses, Eben had confronted the said cannabis smoker asking him to refrain from harassing his mother at her business place situated at the entrance of the neighborhood. The victim’s mother had reported that the assailant had made it a habit to collect money from her. Offended by the victim’s request, the assailant reportedly pulled out a knife and stabbed him around the left side of his chest causing his death. Alerted by the incident, an angry mob administered beatings to the attacker.

According to the locals, Eben’s mother was not the murderer’s only victim. Fortunately for him, security forces intervened on time and he is currently detained pending trial.
