Douala: Police nabs six suspected burglars of money transfer kiosks
Members of the anti-crime unit of the Littoral Judicial Police have nabbed six men between the ages of 22 and 36, accused of carrying out a series of criminal operations within the cosmopolitan city of Douala.
Their major operation is said to be burglary into electronic money transfer kiosks depriving their victims of huge sums of money.
“Though they burgled into other business premises, they targeted mainly money transfer kiosks. With the help of locally fabricated arms and daggers, they suppressed their victims to grant their request”. Mohamadou Ahidjo, an Officer explained.
Five fell in the police dragnet in the Hilla Hotel neighborhood, Douala 1 subdivision where they carried out an operation in a shop. An investigation was opened to track them down following complaints from victims.
Police arrested the 6th gang member in Yaoundé, Centre region.
The suspects who were presented to the public on July 23, 2024, will be present before judges of the Douala Military Court.
On the faces of some victims who identified the five men during the public presentation, were smiles of satisfaction.
