Douala: mother of two murdered in Mabanda
The body of a woman in her late 30s with knife cuts was found outside her home in the Mabanda neighborhood in the Douala IV subdivision on Wednesday 13 September, 2023.
An alert by an inhabitant pulled a crowd of onlookers, gripped by shock including the quarter head.
“We got up with news Mitchelle was found dead with knife injuries on her stomach and throat while her two-year-old child was crying inside. There was a butcher knife next to her. No one could tell what happened,” explained the quarter head
A pathologist arrived the scene alongside gendarmerie elements.
“The medical doctor said the knife near the woman was not that used to slaughter her right from her room. From the nature of the wounds, it was a smaller knife,” the quarter head added.
Michelle’s corpse was deposited at the Bonassama District Hospital mortuary. Results of the autopsy and investigation, according to the quarter head are awaited.
In the meantime, the victim’s husband who lives in Yaounde with Michelle’s older child, is in Gendarmerie custody for interrogation. He declared he arrived in Douala after hearing the shocking news.
Inhabitants of the neighborhood testify that the deceased woman was living in the compound alone and was reportedly frequently beaten by her mother-In-law and other relatives of her husband for unclear reasons.
